Abandon Normal Devices (AND) – Mobile Republic

Abandon Normal Devices is one of the biggest media arts festivals in the UK. The festival provides artists a space for new models of working.

‘The classic touring caravan is a symbol of the traditional British summer holiday, but these caravans are not what they seem. Beneath their innocent exteriors the five caravans have been radically remodelled and re-imagined by artists, architects and activists.’ – AND

Jane Elizabeth Bennett was commissioned in 2012 by AND to reimagine the interior of a caravan for the Backburn phase of the tour. Her aim was to engage youth groups with space by ‘re-curating’ the ‘space’.
